Blacksmith's design was inspired by a 30lb sportsman class robot named Mangi which was also built by Al Kindle. In each of its iterations, Blacksmith has been a large, square-shaped robot with four-wheel drive and a hammer as its primary weapon, which also served as a self-righting mechanism.
